Description
Early San Francisco painting by Thomas Hill’s brother, Edward, who was a highly skilled nothern California artist. Painted only a few years after the California gold rush helped establish San Francisco as the hub of the west coast. Shipwrecks (such as the one in this painting), were not uncommon on the early San Francisco coast.
