Nelson, Richard (1901 – 1972)

Richard Nelson studied at The Chicago Art Institute and the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris. He received his M.A. at the University of California, Berkeley and after founding the art department at University of California, Davis, later served as its chairman for many years. He was instrumental in bringing Wayne Thiebaud to Davis in 1960. Thiebaud remained through the 1970s and influenced numerous art students.
