Mitchell, Alfred R. (1888-1972)

By the time Alfred Mitchell painted Placer Diggings, near one of the original gold mines in the county of Placer, probably around the late 1920s, the new residents of the area had turned to farming the fertile foothill soil, harvesting timber and working for the Southern Pacific Railroad.
